The Loneliness of a Star

The Loneliness of a Star

She was a star
not the brightest,
not the one they named,
just a quiet shimmer
lost in an endless sky.

She was born in fire,
in a violent bloom of light,
yet her existence
was destined to look peaceful
from a distance.

For ages,
she burned in silence
giving light
to worlds she would never touch,
guiding paths
she would never walk.

Planets circled others,
galaxies embraced their own,
but she
she remained still,
anchored in a place
she never chose.

Sometimes,
she watched the comets pass
wild, free, fleeting
and wondered
what it meant
to move.

The darkness often told her
“You are enough,
you light the void.”

But she knew
lighting the void
is not the same
as filling it.

One day,
she felt a pull
a quiet gravity
from another star,
far across the silence.

For the first time,
she was not alone
in her longing.

Across the vastness,
they spoke
not in words,
but in flickers,
in the trembling of light
that only they could feel.

A bond formed
delicate, distant,
yet deeper
than any closeness.

She burned brighter,
not to be seen,
but to be felt
by that one presence
in the infinite.

But the universe
is not kind
to such stories.

Time stretched
distances widened
and what once felt near
began to fade
into memory.

Her light still traveled,
reaching where it once belonged,
but by the time it arrived,
she was no longer
who she had been.

Now,
she shines as she always did
steady, distant, quiet

but somewhere in her glow
is a story
that no telescope can read.

And if you look closely,
you might feel it

that faint trembling
in her light,
as if she’s still whispering

“Sometimes,
even across infinity,
we meet…
only to learn
how vast separation truly is.”
