Your Eyes”
When the last ripple of our words
was slowly sinking into silence,
I wished —
to look into your eyes,
like a traveler
seeking his home in the dusk.
But I stopped —
perhaps out of fear,
that I might see my own name there,
or lose myself forever.
Then one evening,
when the sun placed
a soft ray upon my shoulder,
Love whispered —
“Look, those eyes now live within you.”
And since that day,
whenever I meet myself,
I meet you too —
uninvited, untouched,
just as Love touches the soul —
tender, unspoken, and eternal.
